Dear Sisters and Brothers
Peace be with you!
If you have a moment I would like to again introduce you to our organization serving the poor in the City of Detroit and beyond.
Our Experience of hopelessness, extreme poverty and poor health are reflected in the statistics shown on the attached map. The map also shows Franciscan Ministries area of service. Starting with the poorest of the poor.
In response to the current crises of poverty in our area, the sisters and brothers of the O.F.S. (Order of St. Francis Secular) have created a new way of serving the poor in areas where no one else is willing to go. It is aptly called “Franciscan Ministries Inc.” Using the same model we use at St. Aloysius of going to the people where they are, we minister to the poor not only in the downtown area but also in the 132 sq. miles of the City that is not a part of the current ongoing revitalization as well as other areas of Southeast Michigan.
If you are able to help us, when necessary, we can pick up any donations when they are ready.
On October 4th, 2014 (Feast day of St. Francis) we received notice from the Internal Revenue Service that we have been determined as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
I am attaching our Christmas Giving Tree Appeal. I hope that the Parish Community will take a look at it and consider helping.
I am happy to answer any questions you may have.
God’s Continued Blessings
Mike
